am i like the only person who remembers this nytimes.com/2004/10/17/magazin / archive web.archive.org/web/2020122100

this is what i have been thinking about re: all the discourse in the wake of the attempted coup in washington, with people openly lying and most everyone else taking them at face value as if they were using words to say things and not simply making mouth hole noises while being fascist

@nev And when Trump is out of the White House the people who followed him, just like they followed George W. Surely real-life villains believe they're heroes and don't do villain monologues? I don't know, could be real.

@nev anyway, i totally agree with you that fascists make mouth hole noises and we should not take them at face value, or assume they're arguing in good faith.

@nindokag i mean, they had "Axis of Evil". Dick Cheney SHOT A GUY. Mission Accomplished. So I lean towards probable

@nev I can't unhear how this quote is recited in The National's song "Walk It Back" on the album Sleep Well Best.

uspol, throwback thursday

@nev that is a very scary thought. And also very applicable to the current administration.
